MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Hortonville native Caleb Boushley got the win in his MLB debut on Friday as Milwaukee walked off the Chicago Cubs 4-3 in ten innings.
The UW-La Crosse graduate went 2.1 innings and allowed one hit and one earned run. He also recorded five strikeouts. Starter Collin Rae went five innings and didn’t allow a run, but also didn’t factor in the decision.
Carlos Santana and Victor Caritini each had two hits. Santana led the way with an RBI triple early in the game and an RBI double in the 10th to score Blake Perkins and seal the win.
The Cubs’ Postseason hopes did take a step back with the loss but they haven’t been completely eliminated. Chicago sits a game and a half behind the 3rd Wild Card spot, currently held by the Miami Marlins. Miami does hold a tiebreaker over the Cubs, meaning Chicago would need to win their next two games and Miami would need to lose two.
The Wildcard race in each league remains unsettled going into the final two days of the season along with the AL West Champion.
Game 161 of the season will be heard Saturday afternoon on WSAU with pregame beginning at 5:35.
