MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The 75th season of Wisconsin Badger Men’s Hockey will begin in early October with a pair of games against Augustana University.
The Badgers and Vikings will meet on October 7th and 8th at the Kohl Center in what will be the first competitive games in AU program history. The Division II school based in Sioux Falls, SD announced two years ago that they would start a Division I hockey program as part of their larger vision of becoming a full-fledged DI athletic program by 2030.
Wisconsin’s non-conference schedule also includes games against Alaska-Anchorage and Michigan Tech. They’ll also participate in the early-season Icebreaker event against Bemidji State and North Dakota.
Big Ten play begins October 26th and 27th with two games against Minnesota in Minneapolis. Michigan will visit the Kohl Center the following weekend for the first B1G home series of the season.
Conference play will once again consist of four games against each Big Ten school; two at home and two on the road. The regular season concludes March 1st and 2nd against Michigan State.
Other non-conference opponents for the Badgers will include Lindenwood (MO) and a pair of games at the Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. Wisconsin will play Air Force in the tournament opener, and either Minnesota-Duluth or Northeastern in the championship or 3rd place game.
