PLOVER, WI (WSAU) — A hayrack fire snarled traffic on Interstate 39 near Plover on Sunday.
Crews were called out at about 12:40 to an area near Birch Drive, roughly three miles from the intersection with Highway 54. Crews initially shut down just one lane of traffic, but later detoured both lanes due to blowing smoke.
All lanes were reopened by 3:30 PM.
A total of seven agencies responded including the Plover Fire Department and volunteer fire departments from Almond. Bancroft Pine-Grove, and the Amherst Fire Department. The State Patrol, Portage County Highway Dept, and Wisconsin DNR also responded.
