MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – At Central Feeds in the Town of Lincoln on Wednesday morning, a feed grinder’s diesel power unit malfunctioned and caused a fire that lead to significant soot and heavy smoke.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue was called to Central Feeds at 11051 Falcon Road in Lincoln around 7:50 a.m. Within 40 minutes, more personnel were required on the scene, and additional fire departments from the surrounding area were also dispatched.
According to a press release from the Town of Lincoln Fire and Rescue, there was heavy black smoke and flames surrounding a diesel power unit for a food grinder upon entry into the building. The flames were apparently caused by a malfunction with the diesel unit in the motor area, and power to the unit was turned off.
The fire severely damaged the diesel power unit. The feed mill is currently closed until further notice.
