STEVENS POINT, WI (WAOW-WSAU) — The newest Veterans of Foreign Wars Post is coming to Stevens Point.
WAOW-TV reports that the Post will be named after Amherst native Eugene A. Uhl III who died while serving in Iraq in 2003.
Al Tessman is the organizer and will be the first Commander of the organization. He says the mission is to “foster true patriotism and pass those attributes to our kids”. He said they are looking for local veterans to join the orgnaization which has been meeting at the Portage County Boys & Girls Club since April.
Only a few more members are needed to become an official charter and get a post number. It would be the first of it’s kind in Wisconsin in 50 years.
You can contact Tessman at (715) 498-5470 or email stevens.point.vfw@gmail.com
