WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) Wausau celebrates its 150th birthday on Saturday.
The city is observing its sesquicentennial this year. Wausau’s city charter was issued 150 years ago in 1872.
Prior to that the area has been known as Big Bull Falls, a logging outpost.
The city is planning a series of events on Saturday. There’s a parade starting at 11am on North 3rd Avenue to Marathon Park.
The park will be hosting a carnival and live entertainment starting at noon. The live entertainment begins with the Wausau Concert Band at noon, and concludes with a Vic Ferrari concert at 8:30pm.
All of the entertainment is free.
