WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Organizers are bringing back the Taste and Glow Balloon Festival outside of Wausau for a second year, with a diverse lineup of events and food offerings for all.
Nancy Woller says they’ve brought in more food vendors after one of last year’s biggest complaints was long lines in the food court.
“If you like chicken wings, you can get chicken wings. If you like a turkey leg, you can get a turkey leg. Or a cheese curd, a brat, a hamburger- whatever it may be,” said Woller. “We want to be diverse.”
She adds many of the vendors are local to Central Wisconsin as well.
Dozens of balloons will also be in town for the event including two that resemble popular Star Wars characters Darth Vader and Yoda. Woeller says they’ve also booked a special balloon that inflates on its side, allowing attendees to walk in it to get a sense of how big the balloons can get.
Live music, lumberjack games, and log rolling competitions round out the event’s lineup.
Admission for this year’s event is $1 per person or a donation to local food pantries. Shuttles will be running to the festival site in Stettin from the Weston Village Hall, John Muir Middle School in Wausau, and Granite Peak Ski Resort in Rib Mountain. She also encourages attendees to visit the event page on Facebook or the Wausau Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website, as last year’s web traffic to the event site caused it to crash.
