MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Taylor Schaefer of Franksville was picked as the 75th Alice in Dairyland on Saturday night at Monona Terrace in Madison.
Schaefer will work for the next year as the official spokesperson of the state’s dairy industry, under a contract with the State Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection.
“As a young exhibitor, I looked up to Alice for her contributions towards reconnecting consumers to producers and ability to foster positive relationships between urban and rural community members,” Schaefer said in a written statement. “As Alice, I will explore Wisconsin’s diverse agriculture industry and share my knowledge with audiences of all demographics across the state,” she added.
Schaefer attended UW-Madison, where she was a member of the Badger Dairy Club, Women in Agriculture, and the UW Marching Band. She graduated with a degree in communications and a digital studies certificate.
Because of COVID, there was no Alice in Dairyland last year. The 74th Alice, Julia Nunes of Chippewa Falls, served for two years.
