STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The city of Stevens Point has passed its share of funding for improvements to the sports facilities at Goerke Park.
The city council approved $420,000 in bonding on Monday.
The park itself, K.B. Willett Arena, and Community Stadium will all see upgrades. The improvements include new turf and a new scoreboard at the football field, and renovated locker rooms at the ice arena.
The amount pledged by the city is only a part of the total cost for the upgrades. The facilities are used by sports teams from UW-Stevens Point and SPASH.
