WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A father accused of not managing his son’s diabetic condition, leading to the boy’s death in 2017, has been sentenced after cutting a plea deal with prosecutors.
Robert Glazner will serve 15 years of probation, a sentence that has been withheld as long as he completes 11 months in the Marathon County Jail with Huber privileges and a mental health assessment.
Additionally, Glazner must make a good faith effort to be employed at least 30 hours per week or complete 9 hours of community service per week. He will need to pay restitution as well, details of that will be ironed out in the coming weeks.
Glazner was given credit for 30 days served while being held on bond. He must report to the jail by March 8th to begin his sentence.
The deal saw Glazner plead no contest to the count of second-degree homicide. A judge then found him guilty.
Glazner’s son Bryden died while in his care in August of 2017 due to a lack of attention to his diabetic condition. Both medical professionals and family members said he had been reluctant to learn how to manage the condition, once telling a nurse she had “no right to advise him that he needed to attend diabetes education,” and that only a judge could do that.
