MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Bob McManus, removed as Mayor of Marshfield last year, is planning to run again according to a post on his personal Facebook page.
He’s filed his candidacy paperwork and needs only 200 signatures to be on the ballot.
McManus was removed from office by the City Council last March after he was found to have deleted text messages from his city-issued cellphone that were part of an open records request. Since then, Marshfield has been without a full-time mayor with the City Council president filling the basic functions of the office.
McManus is the second announced candidate for the position. Last week Ken Bargender announced his intentions to run, saying “I have served the citizens of Marshfield in many capacities over the past 14 years. I feel it is time to use my experience and knowledge to fulfill the roll [sic] of Mayor.”

Marshfield will pick a new mayor in April. Should three candidates successfully submit petitions to run for office, there will be a primary in February.
December 1st marked the first day that candidates for local, non-partisan offices could begin circulating nominating papers.
