WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Phase 1 and 2 leaf collection schedule for the City of Wausau has been announced.
Crews will be out pickup up leaves from the edge of the boulevard starting the week of September 27th in the far western and southern portions of the city. They’ll move to the central portions of the city along Wisconsin 52 the week of October 4th. The northern portion of the city will follow the week of October 11th.
The first phase will involve just the leaf vacuum trucks. Residents are asked to not rake their leaves into the street for this round of collection.
Phase 2 will begin October 18th involves a full fleet of trucks, leaf balers, and street sweepers. Crews will then collect the leaves with the tractors and bailers, then street sweepers will come through to pick up anything that’s doesn’t make it into the balers.
During this phase, residents are asked to rake leaves into the gutters the weekend before their scheduled street cleaning to minimize the number of leaves and lawn debris that ends up in the Wisconsin River.
