VILLAGE OF MAINE, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin State Patrol officials say multiple vehicles were involved in two crashes on US 51 Sunday afternoon, leading to two fatalities.
State Patrol officials say the first crash occurred as a chain reaction beginning when a Suburu Forester rear-ended a Honda that had four occupants. The Honda then rear-ended another vehicle that contained two people.
The two backseat passengers in the Honda, a 99-year-old female and 88-year-old male- both from Muckwanago- died at the scene.
According to the crash report from the State Patrol, no other serious injuries were reported in the incident. Names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending family notification.
Later in the afternoon, another incident was reported in the northbound lanes about one mile from that accident. The initial crash report from the Wisconsin State Patrol did not specify how many vehicles were involved or if there were any injuries.
The northbound incident was reported at around 4:40 PM. The scene was clear within an hour. No further information about that incident has been reported.
