WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Arrests have been made in an end-of-year homicide investigation.
The investigation began after a body was found in the Town of Spencer in December of 2020. The body was identified as 20-year-old Christian Schauer of Marshfield.
Immediately afterward police began a search for Christian’s car, a 2005 black Chevrolet Impala. The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday that on February 5th they acted on a citizen’s tip, which led to the discovery of Christian’s vehicle on a property in the town of Eau Pleine.
Police say, Jared Carl, 19, lives on the property and was arrested for potential charges of possession of stolen property related to the homicide along with drug and weapons charges. Jared’s father, Shawn, was arrested on February 9th for potential charges of First Degree Intentional Homicide in connection to the death and for possession of a fully automatic rifle.
Both will be in court on Thursday at 2 p.m. for their initial appearances. No other information is being released at this time as the investigation is ongoing.
