WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) – A house fire in Wisconsin Rapids has claimed a life.
Wisconsin Rapids Fire Battalion Chief Mike Lisitza says a passer-by saw flames shooting out of a second story window of a duplex on Daly Avenue.
First responders arrived around 8:30pm, and called for back-up from Grand Rapids, Biron, and Port Edwards.
One person died in the fire. The victim hasn’t been identified. Others made it out safely and were relocated with the assistance of the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined. The Wood County Sheriff’s Department has requested assistance from the Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation.
