WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The suspect charged with vehicular homicide in connection with a deadly crash in Rib Mountain in August of 2019 appears to have reached a plea deal.
A judge has set a plea hearing set for October 16th and a sentencing date on December 22nd for Enrique Sanchez. He’s accused of driving while high on a mixture of drugs including cocaine, fentanyl, and a chemical compound used in electronic cleaners when he rolled his vehicle, killing his passenger Danielle Dahlquist.
Investigators say Dahlquist and Sanchez purchased cans of electronic duster spray and used them just before the crash.
Charges against Sanchez include recklessly endangering safety, homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and vehicular homicide with use of a controlled substance.
The crash took place in a parking lot located near Kohls in the popular Rib Mountain shopping area. According to the crash report, Sanchez was speeding when he struck a light pole, a tree, and then another vehicle before the car rolled.
