WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) –A former DC Everest Middle School teacher convicted of sexually assaulting a child will spend over a decade behind bars.
Peter Schmidt was sentenced to 12 years in prison along with 8 years of extended supervision on Monday afternoon. Schmidt reached a plea deal with prosecutors after he sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 16 in 2016.
Schmidt met the teenager online and then lured her to his home in Mosinee. Schmidt will be on the sex offender registry for the rest of his life.
He was also sentenced to 60 days in jail for his third OWI that runs at the same time as his other sentence.
