Dating is hard. We've all been there. I think now-a-days it makes it more difficult to meet genuine people because of the world of social media along with dating and “hook up” apps.
Granted, these things can be handy for those who aren't the type of people who go out all the time and aren't able to meet someone in an “old fashion” way. Nothing wrong with that at all. But, one of my best friends who for the sake of anonymity, we'll call Gina has had a very difficult time with online dating.
Gina has been single for several months and since then, her life has been my daily source of entertainment. As you may know, I LOVE reality TV, but her life is actually real and highly entertaining. She even thinks so herself. The stories I hear on a daily basis are cringe worthy yet make us both face palm while laughing.
She has been using dating apps. Nothing wrong with that, that's pretty typical now-a-days to meet people and for some, it really works out! Her experience has been somewhat different.
For example, she was talking to a guy who seemed really nice and like a catch until he blurted out that he wanted her to treat him like a baby. What does that entail you ask? He wanted to wear diapers while she fed him a bottle. I mean… at least he was honest. (I just snorted laughing while I typed this).
There was a guy she was talking to for a while via text. They agreed to meet up and go to a movie. The deal was she'd buy the tickets and he'd get the popcorn. He shows up and he's shorter than her, topping out at 5'6 or 5'7 after saying he was 5'10. She's relatively tall so she could see the top of his head. Height really isn't a say all end all, but why lie? Anyways, when it comes time to get snacks, he tries to dodge it by walking to the theater. When she says “hey are we going to grab something?” he said “sorry, I broke my debit card.” *eye roll* So, being the stubborn person she is, she just followed him to the theater. They were there to see the Avengers. They barely spoke before the movie… and she was unsettled by how he smelled like a hospital room. The movie starts and guess who is fast asleep in the chair next to her? Her date. Who falls asleep at the Avengers?! After the movie, he said he had to get home. Later on she received a text that said “sorry, I was hungry and I assumed you didn't want to buy dinner”. Needless to say, they never spoke again.
Another guy she met, he seemed really attached and would get mad if her and I were hanging out because he wanted her attention and thought “hanging out with a friend” meant she was with another guy. When it was literally her and I… hanging out. The following days, he kept making excuses that he had to take his daughter to dinner. This was literally the same excuse for a week straight as to why he couldn't hang out. How often does someone actually take their kid to dinner? Even after him being captain crazy pants, she went on a date with him, he seemed nice and she said she wouldn't mind going on another date. A few days after the date he wanted to see her. She told him she was going to stay home and catch up on housework. He turned into a stage 5 clinger and went off about how he needed someone who would be willing to put him before house work. *face palm* Thank you, next.
There are several other stories that are horrific and not appropriate for young eyes, so i'll leave those out. But, what are your craziest online dating stories?
