Milwaukee Brewers
LOS ANGELES, CA (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers failed to get out of their offensive slump on Friday as two-way star Shohei Ohtani stole the show in a 5-1 series-clinching victory.
Ohtani turned in a quality start, going six innings and allowing just two hits with ten strikeouts and three walks. At the plate, he went 3-3 with three massive solo home runs, including a leadoff blast in the first inning off Brewers starter Jose Quintana. His performance earned him the NLCS MVP award.
Teoscar Hernandez and Tommy Edman also recorded RBI base hits for the Dodgers. Milwaukee’s lone run came in the 8th when Brice Turang hit into an RBI groundout, scoring Caleb Durbin.
Jackson Chourio and William Contreras each recorded two hits on the night.
Los Angeles returns to the World Series with a chance to defend their title. Should they do so, they would be the first team since the New York Yankees of the late 90s and early 00s to repeat as champions. The series will begin on October 24th with the Dodgers facing either the Toronto Blue Jays or Seattle Mariners. LA holds home-field advantage over Seattle; the Jays would have home-field advantage if they prevail in the ALCS.
