Tom Tiffany
WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Congressman Tom Tiffany has scheduled a “special announcement” for Wednesday.
The 7th Congressional District Representative will hold an event at the Peterson Barn on Woodbine Lane at 6:00 PM. While the subject of the announcement was not disclosed, it has been widely speculated that the former State Senator is planning to run for Governor.
Tiffany has served in the US House since 2020, when he won a special election to replace Sean Duffy. His current term expires in 2027.
He’s also served in both chambers of the Wisconsin Legislature, representing the 35th Assembly District and 12th Senate District.
Should he confirm the long-speculated rumors and announce a campaign for Governor, he would join an already crowded primary field. Five major Republican and Democratic candidates have already announced their candidacies. That includes current Lieutenant Governor Sara Rodriguez and State Representatives Kelda Roys and Francesca Hong, all Democrats.
Republicans include Josh Schoemann and Bill Berrien. A handful of smaller names and Independent candidates have also declared.
