SAFER Fire District
WESTON, WI (WSAU) — Trustees in the Village of Weston have delayed a vote on a proposed fire fee.
Village Administrator Jami Gebert says they want to gather more information on some issues. The district also has a pending grant application, which could impact the decision.
Discussion will likely continue at the September Board meeting.
SAFER Chief Josh Finke says the fee would be calculated based on building square footage and whether any outbuildings are located on the property. The formula would range from one to four cents per square foot, with preliminary calculations showing a typical home would see an added $45 to $60 per year on their tax bills. The fee would apply to all buildings in the Village, including tax-exempt structures and municipal buildings, meaning everyone would pay into the pot.
