WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office has announced a temporary safety zone and closures near Wausau Municipal Airport for the Wings Over Wausau Air Show on June 27-28, 2025.
This will impact a large portion of Lake Wausau. Boaters should be aware that Lake Wausau will be closed from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on both days of the event.
At Bluegill County Park, the boat landing, parking by the boat landing itself (spots designated for trailer parking) are going to be closed starting at 6:00 a.m. on June 27 through the end of the air show. Vehicles or trailers parked in restricted areas during this period risk being towed.
The parking areas for normal vehicles (without trailers) and the park itself will remain open to the public to go to the park and enjoy the show from there.
To ensure safety, the United States Coast Guard has set a temporary safety zone on Lake Wausau, which will restrict boat travel between Wausau and nearby areas. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Marathon County Sheriff’s Office, and Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will enforce this zone.
