The Green Bay Packers announced Tuesday they’ve reached an agreement with first round draft choice Lukas Van Ness. The edge rusher from the University of Iowa was the 13th overall pick in last April’s draft. First round choices receive four year deals with an option for a fifth year. The team didn’t disclose the financials but reports say Van Ness will earn 17.4 million dollars on the contract with a nine and a half million dollar signing bonus. He’s expected to contribute immediately with veteran Rashan Gary still mending from knee surgery last season. The signing of Van Ess leaves the Packers with just two draft picks without a contract. Tight end Luke Musgrave from Oregon State and Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed were both selected in the second round. The team still has plenty of time with rookies scheduled to report to the 2023 Packer Training Camp on July 21.
