Trucker crashes while pursued by police

WITTENBERG, Wis. (WSAU) -- The westbound lanes of Highway 29 were blocked for a while Tuesday after a large dump truck overturned on the highway.

Shawano County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy John Gutho says they had complaints about a reckless driver in a semi-style dump truck. The truck crashed near Witt-Morr Townline Road just before deputies caught up with it.

The 26-year-old Manitowoc man driving the truck was injured in the crash, and was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital for treatment. His name has not been released yet.

Highway 29 was blocked from just before 2:00 p.m. until nearly 5:00 p.m. as investigators worked at the crash scene.
