STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- Stevens Point police are looking for more information and witnesses as they investigate a Monday assault that took place in Iverson Park.

A 36-year-old hispanic male was at the park with his child when multiple individuals attacked him in the play area near the baseball field. Stevens Point Police Sergeant Tony Babl says the victim was struck several times with either a bat or a large stick, and suffered bruises and lacerations on his head and face.

Babl says the public is not in danger, as the victim recognized some of the suspects.

The suspects fled the scene, and are still at large. The vehicle they used was found abandoned in a bowling alley parking lot.

Police have talked to some of the people that witnessed the beating in the park, but are looking for more witnesses. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact them at 715-346-1518.
