WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The man charged with killing a pedestrian while driving was back in court Tuesday. 47-year-old Evan Mooney had bond set at $30,000 cash by Judge Jill Falstad. If he does bond out of jail, Mooney will have to remain absolutely sober, not drive, and stay way from the victim’s family.
Mooney is charged with homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, vehicular homicide by use of a controlled substance, knowingly operating while revoked, causing death while driving, and fifth-offense operating while intoxicated.
86-year-old John Diktanas from Crivitz was hit by Mooney’s vehicle October 28th along White Spire Road in Rothschild. Diktanas died at the hospital a short time later.
Mooney’s next court appearance is a preliminary hearing June 4th in Marathon County’s Branch II of circuit court.
