WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A man that was missing for about a day was found dead along the shores of Lake Wausau Tuesday morning.
The 32-year-old man was found by his live-in girlfriend at about 10:20 a.m. He was on rocks near the shoreline at the bottom of a steep embankment off of South 12th Avenue and Flieth Street. The girlfriend told police he was intoxicated when he left the house Monday, and that he has a history of substance abuse problems.
The man did have a severe head wound, but police are not sure if that was the cause of his death. Detective Captain Greg Hagenbucher says the body is going to the state crime lab in Madison for a full autopsy Wednesday.
His name has not been released.
