WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- A 22 year old Wausau man is in custody after police arrested him firing a gun outside Saturday night.

A 911 caller reported around 10 pm that a man was firing a gun at trees on the 1700 block of Cherry Street. Officers arrived at the scene and safely arrested the man without incident. Patrol Lieutenant Duwayne Dachel says it was nearly routine. "It was textbook. Officer Porath located the suspect, and with the help of other officers took him into custody."

The man is currently under arrest for recklessly endangering safety, operating a firearm while intoxicated and carrying a concealed weapon. The man's name is not being released until formal charges are filed on Monday.
