EAGLE RIVER, Wis. (WSAU) -- The man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend and leaving her in the car to die was in court Monday.

29-year-old Andrew Rosner entered a not guilty plea by reason of mental disease or defect in Vilas County court. Now, he will be evaluated by doctors before his next court appearance.

The stabbing incident happened in February, and the victim, 21-year-old Morgan Maney drove herself to the hospital for treatment. Doctors told investigators before the preliminary hearing February 25th that the victim probably saved the lives of herself and the unborn child.

Maney was in court to watch Monday’s proceedings.

Rosner will be back in court April 29th.
