Marshfield Clinic cutting 13 million from staff pay, benefits

by

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Budget cuts are coming for Marshfield Clinic next month.

Employees of Marshfield Clinic got the news by email Wednesday that the two percent staff raises are on hold, the company’s one percent match for 401 K programs is going away, and doctors and other employees earning over 125-thousand dollars per year are getting a five percent pay cut.

Executive Director Dr. Brian Ewert sent the email, saying revenue is down seventeen million dollars since the 1st of October. Clinic officials believe high deductible insurance plans coupled with higher than usual winter expenses for families forced many people to avoid getting health care.

The cuts kick in April 1st, and are projected to save thirteen million dollars.
