RHINELANDER, Wis. (WXPR) -- A Monday morning car chase ended in a fatal crash. Rhinelander police tried to pull over a car at about 8:30 p.m., but the driver accelerated instead of pulling over. The chase led the officer to the Town of Newbold just outside of the Rhinelander city limits.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Department identified the driver as 27-year-old Sean E. O’Corrain of Rhinelander.  Rhinelander Police Chief Michael Steffes says a series of events led to the crash.

O’Corrain died at the scene.

Chief Steffes asks the public to call them if they have any more information about the driver or the incident. Callers can remain anonymous.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Oneida County Medical Examiner's Office are continuing their investigation into the events surrounding the vehicle crash.
