High School Baseball State Tournament Begins Today

GRAND CHUTE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The state high school spring baseball tournament is scheduled to begin today near Appleton with the Division-One quarter-finals and semi-finals.  Six games are on the docket at Fox Cities Stadium, weather permitting. Thunderstorms are in the forecast.

Defending champion Sun Prairie is scheduled to play this morning's opener against Stevens Point at eight o'clock.  Bay Port and Janesville Parker are to square up after that.

The other Division-One quarter-finals are set for this afternoon.  Middleton is to face Wilmot, and Kimberly is due to play Hartford.

If those four games get in, the winners will play in the D-One semi-finals tonight.

Semis in the other three divisions are set for tomorrow.  Four championship games are now scheduled for Thursday.  At least two new champs will be crowned.  Last year's Division-Two titlist Lodi did not return-to-state, and neither D-Four champion Greenwood.
