GREEN BAY, Wis The Pack's number one receiver was the number one story on the opening day of training camp as Jordy Nelson agreed to a four year contract extension worth a reported $39-million.
According to Ian Rapaport, the deal includes $14.2 million in guaranteed money and a signing bonus of $11.5 million.
Last year, Nelson led the team with 85 receptions for 1314 yards and 8 touchdowns. Since being taken with the top choice (2nd round) in 2008 out of Kansas State, Nelson has piled up 302 catches for 4590 yards and 36 scores. He was entering the final year of his second contract with the team, considered very "team friendly" three years ago. Nelson said entering camp he was looking for a deal that averaged about $10 million per year and while he came up just short of that average, the Packers have locked up Aaron Rodgers' top target through 2018.
