Stevens Point man charged with 9th OWI

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- A 57-year-old man has been charged with his ninth OWI.

Alan Stricker of Stevens Point was involved in a crash on the intersection of Stanley Street and Wilshire Boulevard on July 7.  He claimed then that he was not the driver of a vehicle that struck another vehicle around 11:19 p.m.  No one was injured in the accident

The other driver stated she was 28 weeks pregnant at the time. Stricker was driving with a revoked license after failing to reinstate it following his last OWI in 2008.

Stricker is free on a $2,500 signature bond. He admitted taking pain and sleeping medication on the night of the crash. Stricker is also expected to be charged with operating with a revoked license and obstructing an officer.

If convicted, recent law changes call for at least three years in prison for driving drunk for the 9th time.
