Spurs Beat Bucks, New Guard On Board

LAS VEGAS, NV (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Milwaukee Bucks got crushed by San Antonio last night, 100-to-71 in the N-B-A Summer League.  Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 20 points with seven rebounds, as the Bucks fell to 0-and-4 in their five-game summer schedule in Las Vegas.

First-round rookie forward Jabari Parker added 16 points, making ten of his 13 free throws.  San Antonio's first-round draft pick Kyle Anderson scored 14 points.  Former Marquette guard Vander Blue added 12 for the Spurs.

The Bucks' loss dropped them to the consolation bracket after tournament play began yesterday.  Milwaukee will close out its Summer League schedule tomorrow afternoon against Golden State. The Bucks are reportedly close to signing free-agent point guard Jerryd Bayless.  He split time with Memphis and Boston last season.  The Journal Sentinel says Bayless is in line for a possible two-year contract worth a total of six-to-seven million dollars, with no player-or-team options.

The 6-3 Bayless averaged 10 points and three assists for the Celtics, after being acquired to help fill in for the injured Rajon Rondo.  He played mostly at the shooting guard spot for Boston, and he could add depth and versatility to Milwaukee's back-court.

The 6-3 Bayless is joining his sixth N-B-A team in seven seasons, starting at Portland in 2008.

Coach Jason Kidd has been auditioning second-year forward Giannis Antetokounmpo at the point during the Bucks' N-B-A Summer League games.  The Bucks also have Nate Wolters and last year's starting point guard Brandon Knight.
