MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Marshfield School District’s new superintendent is on the job. Dr. Dee Wells met with administrative staff and toured district facilities earlier this week, and Wednesday night she attended her first Board of Education meeting as the superintendent. Wells comes to Marshfield from Minnesota, but she’s originally from right here in Central Wisconsin. According to Wells, “I actually grew up in the area. I was raised on a farm in Medford, Wisconsin so I’m a farm girl by heart, grew up in a rural area, and graduated from Medford High School.”
Wells holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, and had previously served as superintendent in both Medford and Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. Last month she accepted a two-year contract with the Marshfield School District at a salary of $150,000 per year. The Marshfield School Board gave past Superintendent Peg Geegan a two-week extension of her contract to help assure a smooth transition. Following that transition, Geegan will serve as principal at Washington Elementary School in Marshfield.
