MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A former Schofield mail carrier was sentenced for mail theft Thursday.
48-year-old Lisa Virginia Barker of Gleason was caught stealing mail while working as a rural mail carrier for the Schofield post office. The thefts happened in late 2010 and early 2011.
When customers complained about missing mail, the Post Office Inspector General sent a Target gift card in the mail. Barker intercepted the card, then purchased items with the card.
She pleaded guilty to the charge of taking people’s mail about six times. U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman ordered Barker to pay $125 dollars in fines and $80 in restitution.
