Pointer Weekend Update

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) The UWSP men's hockey team skated to a 2-2 overtime tie with St. Norbert Saturday night in a battle of Top 5 teams. Kyle Sharkey and Scott Henegar had the goals for the Pointers. The Green Knights got a late goal from Blake Thompson that forced the OT.

The Pointers are 4-2-2 and will play at River falls this weekend.


The UWSP womens hockey team split a pair with Gustavus Adolphus winning Friday night 5-2 and losing the Saturday matchup 2-1. Cassandra Salmen had four goals on the weekend inclduign a hat trick on Friday night.


The Pointer men's basketball team stayed unbeaten with a 86-69 win at Superior. Tyler Tillema had 26 and Wisconsin Rapids native Clayton Heuer had a career high 20 points. Trevor Hass had a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.  Bob Semling records his 201st win moving into first place on the all-time Pointer list. The Pointers are now 14-0, 5-0 in the WIAC and will host Oshkosh on Wednesay night.


The UWSP womens basketball team beat Superior on Saturday 76-60. Jamie Destache and Allie Micelli combined for 36 points off the bench to lead the Pointers. Shirley egner's crew is now 11-3, 4-1 in the WIAC and they face Oshkosh on Wednesday
