MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU) -- A new Wisconsin law levels the playing field for youth baseball organizations. Governor Scott Walker was in Milwaukee Thursday to sign Senate Bill 499, which creates a tax exemption for nonprofit youth baseball associations.

The new law now treats youth baseball and youth hockey groups the same, since youth hockey already had the tax exemption.

The new law creates a property tax exemption for buildings, personal property, and land owned or leased by a nonprofit youth baseball association. The exemption is limited to six acres and will first apply to property assessments as of January 1, 2015.
