WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The struggling Wausau Center Mall may soon be under new management. The company that runs the mall - CBL & Associates of Tennessee -- is going to sell 21 under-performing properties. It's not known if the Wausau mall will be among those to be sold.
The mall lost two clothing retailers earlier this year - The Gap and Hollister. And anchor-store JCPenney will be closing on May 2nd. There's been no announcement about who might move into that space. There's been some talk of converting some of the mall into a movie theater complex.
CBL manages 150 properties. Their hometown newspaper in Chattanooga says the company wants to focus on upgrading its more profitable locations, and sell the others in the next 24 to 36 months.
