MARSHFIELD Wis. (WDLB) -- The Central Wisconsin State Fair in Marshfield will be looking for a new manager. Heidi Born-Smith said Tuesday she would be leaving the post later this month for what she calls “personal and private reasons.”  She says, "I enjoyed working here this past year. It’s just been over a year, and it’s a wonderful place to work. People that I’ve met in the community are just fantastic. I’ve had great support, and, I want the fair to succeed and continue and be able to provide top notch entertainment.”

Born-Smith didn’t go into detail about why she’s resigning, but admits it was a hard decision.  “Quite honestly, I’m going to be sad that I’m leaving, but, it’s all good, and the fair will continue, and like I said, we’re going to have a good fair this year.”

She may be leaving, but Born-Smith says you should expect a great Central Wisconsin State Fair because many of the preparations and contracts are already taken care of.  “We have our grandstand entertainment in place. There will be an announcement on Thursday, and we’re really excited about it because we’ve done some new things here at the fair. We’ve had to do some new things, just trying to get people to come through the door. I think we’ve got a lot to offer.”  She added, "A lot of our grounds entertainment is already nailed down. Now, we’re just working on some little things around the grounds and schedules. We actually have deadlines of this Thursday, so a lot of things have to be in place by this Thursday.”

Born-Smith took the job in January of last year, and oversaw just one fair as manager.

She will hold a 1:30 news conference Thursday to announce the grandstand lineup for this summer's six-day fair.
