Clean Sweep Saturday in Marshfield

by

MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) - Saturday is the big day to get rid of hazardous materials for Wood and Marathon County residents. The Clean Sweep program is underway from 8:00 a.m. until noon at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Environmental Health Supervisor Nancy Eggleston says the service is free, but you should call ahead if you're bringing a lot of stuff.

The program will be collecting unwanted, unused, damaged, restricted and banned household, agricultural, chemical and hazardous wastes. That includes pesticides, fertilizers, cleaners and oil-based paints. They'll also be taking medications for disposal as well.

Just bring household hazardous waste to the fairgrounds and they'll take care of the rest.

Eggleston says they're setting up an exchange table to trade and swap new or mostly unused materials.

She says they aren't taking latex paint, because it's non hazardous.

The Clean Sweep project has a website with more information including a list of items they can and cannot take.
