ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - The trial continues for Jeffrey Trevino. The St. Paul, Minnesota man is charged with murdering his wife, Wausau area native Kira Steger.

A great deal of time was spent presenting and arguing about scientific evidence from the alleged crime scenes, namely the house they shared and Kira Steger’s car. Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Crime Scene Specialist Lindsey Garfield was on the witness stand most of Tuesday. She told the court where blood was found. Defense attorney John Conard argued Garfield’s preliminary blood tests could not be positively traced to the victim, and asked, “If it’s blood, whose blood is it?” That question will likely be answered later in the trial by a different expert that handles DNA testing.

Kira Steger’s grandfather Norman Kelch also testified Tuesday. He’s the person who found a pillowcase with the victim’s blood in a bag near Keller Lake last March.

Jeffrey Trevino took a lot of notes during Tuesday’s testimony. Both the Trevino and Steger families have been paying close attention to the proceedings in the gallery of the Ramsey County courthouse.
