UNDATED (WSAU) - There should be plenty of cranberries for your upcoming holiday dinners. The 2013 harvest projections are in, and this year’s crop is looking to be about the same size as last year’s crop. That’s according to Ocean Spray. The country’s biggest cranberry producer is headquartered in Massachusetts and has many large operations in Wisconsin. The global crop production is expected to be just over 11-point-1 million barrels.
Canadian cranberry production is up this year, which did cause U.S. prices to drop. The U.S. Department of Agriculture decided to buy up to five million dollars worth of cranberry products for schools and food assistance programs to stabilize the prices.
Wisconsin is the top cranberry producer in the United States.
