State officials tracking fall color changes online, offer tips for best places to go

UNDATED (WSAU) - The fall color season is here in Wisconsin and the DNR is helping you find the best places to take in some nature.

Joanne Haas from the DNR says colors are just starting to come into the Northwoods. "The reds are starting to emerge. In fact if you're looking for a place to drive, between Leona and Crandon, it's really starting to pop, it's really pretty." The change is happening later this year thanks to the end of the drought in the spring, as well as warmer temperatures through the summer. "Because of weather or rain or temperature fluctuations, the colors might be a little more pronounced in other parts of the state."

Hass says color is already reaching our area. "Coming down Highway 51 near Wausau, if you look around, the color is starting to pop."

The DNR is asking for your photos and the best color tweets. You can see all of the state's color on their website.
