WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northcentral Wisconsin wants you to come out for a chef showdown at the Patriot Center this weekend.
It's the annual Big Taste, moving to the Patriot Center. Director Jacki Gessler says they've got a pair of contests this year. "We have our Briq's banana split showdown which is two sets of Bigs and Littles creating the best banana split. Later, we'll have the Big Chef Showdown. We'll have two chefs going head to head to create a masterpiece dish using the secret ingredient."
The Big Chef Showdown places Alex Kwitek from Blue Plate versus Joe Schulz from the Mint Cafe. Gessler says the Showdown works much like Iron Chef. "They don't have any idea of what they're going to cook that night. They'll have about 45 minutes to create a dish from the secret ingredient, and we'll have four judges decide who the winner is."
In addition to the showdowns, there's food, beverages and more, all donated by local businesses and restaurants. The event is one of the major fundraisers each year for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Gessler says the money raised will help cut down their waiting list. "We have about 168 waiting Littles and hopefully this will help take some of them off that list."
Tickets are 50 dollars in advance and 60 at the door, and it all starts 6pm Saturday night.
