PLUM LAKE, Wis. (WXPR) - A ground search in Vilas county has begun after a hunter turned up a jacket and a shoe in the town of Plum Lake. Sheriff Joe Fath reports the hunter said he saw a child's or smaller adult jacket and a shoe along a snowmobile trail. Fath reports the hunter thought it was strange that the clothing was there. It appears to have been there for awhile.
A ground search in the area is looking for other evidence.
The Wisconsin Crime Lab Field Response Team and the State Patrol are assisting Vilas county in the search. Other assistance is provided by the DNR, Vilas County Emergency Management, Plum Lake Fire Department and the Coroner's Office.
The search is not far from the area where a Sayner woman, Sandra Schinke, was last seen at approximately 2:00 p.m. on April 5th, 2012 walking along county highway "N" about 2 miles east of Sayner. After she was reported missing, an extensive search was conducted that found nothing new. It is unknown if this new search is related to the Schinke disappearance.
