GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The state girls' high school basketball tournament will stay in the Green Bay area for a few years.  The W-I-A-A announced today that the Resch Center has been given extensions to host the girls' basketball and volleyball tournaments, both through 2020.

After almost four decades in Madison, the girls' basketball tourney was moved to Packerland for a two-year period.  Last spring, the tournament attracted its largest paid attendance since 2008, with almost 40-thousand people.  Also, officials said they volleyball tourney has had 11 of its 13 largest crowds at the Resch Center since the building opened in 2002. The board also said it was influenced by plans for a new scoreboard and sound system in the next couple years.

The volleyball tourney will be played at Green Bay November 7th-through-9th, and the girls' basketball tourney is set for March 20th-through-22nd, a week after the boys' finals in Madison.
