CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — Milwaukee picked up their first win of the shortened 2020 season on Saturday in an 8-3 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Lorenzo Cain led the way offensively going 3-4 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Justin Smoak and DH Christian Yelich each homered in the win as well.
A pitching staff by committee day saw Corbin Burns go 3.1 to open the game, giving up one run and striking out 6. Brent Suter was credited with the win after 2.2 despite giving up two earned runs.
Yu Darvish was tagged with the loss for the Cubs.
The two teams combined to leave a small village of runners on base in the contest. Milwaukee stranded 14, Chicago left 16.
The same two teams will wrap up their three-game set Sunday afternoon with first pitch scheduled for just after 1 PM. Pregame coverage begins at 12:35 on WSAU. Milwaukee will then travel to Pittsburgh for the first of three with the Pirates on Monday.
