KRONENWETTER, Wis (WSAU) The Kronenwetter Village Board reversed an earlier decision about a special assessment to cover standing water and flood damage. About 250 homeowners were going to have to pay up to $5,000 each to improve the village's drainage system. Some have had problems with water in their basements.
More than 40 people spoke out against the way the project was being paid for at last night's village board meeting.
The board voted to include the project in next year's budget, to be covered out of general property tax revenues. The overall cost of the project is $600,000. The new storm drains will be installed along County Road X near the Golden Pond subdivision.
